Giant to Open New Store at Redeveloped Andorra Shopping Center

Giant to Open New Store at Redeveloped Andorra Shopping Center

A new Giant grocery store is preparing to open at Andorra Shopping Center in Northwest Philadelphia. Scheduled to debut on June 19, the store represents a major milestone in the property’s ongoing redevelopment.

The nearly 50,000-square-foot supermarket is located at 701 Cathedral Road in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. In addition, more than 160 full- and part-time jobs are expected to be created through the new location.

To accommodate the project, the former Acme supermarket was demolished. Since then, redevelopment efforts have transformed a significant portion of the shopping center.

The new store will feature a full selection of grocery offerings, including organic foods, fresh produce, meat, seafood, bakery items, deli service, and prepared foods. Additionally, dedicated curbside pickup spaces will be available for customers.

A mezzanine level will house a beer and wine section, ready-to-drink beverages, and a full-service Starbucks kiosk overlooking the sales floor. As a result, the store is being positioned as a modern grocery destination.

Meanwhile, the grocery project has served as a catalyst for broader investment throughout the 260,000-square-foot shopping center. Federal Realty Investment Trust has undertaken a comprehensive redevelopment initiative designed to enhance the property’s long-term appeal.

As part of the improvements, portions of existing retail space were reduced to accommodate new uses. Most notably, a new 10,000-square-foot KinderCare childcare center was added to the northern section of the property.

The shopping center already benefits from several established national retailers, including T.J. Maxx, Kohl’s, Five Below, and LA Fitness.

With the addition of Giant, the redevelopment effort continues strengthening Andorra Shopping Center’s position as a key retail destination serving Northwest Philadelphia and the surrounding communities.
